100%of our students receive financial aid. |

If a smaller, private college seems to be the right fit, look past the sticker price and apply because there are many opportunities to reduce the cost of attendance. And, after all scholarships and financial aid are awarded, small, private colleges are often just as affordable as large, public institutions.
Don’t rule out a school you are interested in based on price alone. Go through the admission and financial aid process at each institution, and compare all of the financial aid packages offered side by side. That way, when it comes time to make a final decision, you’ll have all of the details you need to make an informed decision.
Federal Grant Aid programs, Federal Education Loan programs (such as Direct Loans, Parent PLUS Loans) and Federal Work-Study are additional sources of available federal aid. Filing a FAFSA is required to be considered for these federal programs.
Tennessee residents may qualify for the Tennessee HOPE Scholarship Program and/or the need-based Tennessee Student Assistance Award (TSAA). Students must file the FAFSA in order to be considered for these awards as well.
Financial Aid Begins with the FAFSA!
In order to file a FAFSA (Free Application for Federal Student Aid) students and parents must retrieve an FSA ID at StudentAid.gov, then remember to submit the FAFSA online beginning October 1.
We encourage families to use the IRS Data Retrieval Tool to complete the FAFSA. If your FAFSA is selected for Verification, we can accept a signed copy of your tax return, or submit a copy of your IRS Tax Return Transcript upon request. Additional documentation will be requested by the financial aid office to satisfy the Verification requirement in addition to the required tax documentation.

Eligibility for financial aid is determined by filing the Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA) through the Federal Processor. The FAFSA can be completed online. To receive federal aid, a student must be fully accepted into a graduate program. Provisional acceptance does not meet the requirements to qualify for federal aid. Graduation from a program can impact eligibility for future federal aid. Graduate students are eligible to apply for Federal Direct Unsubsidized Loans. Maximum annual loan amount is indicated below:
Unsubsidized Stafford $20,500
This amount will be subject to the student’s filing for federal aid, showing eligibility for loans and cost of attendance for school. Students may or may not be eligible for the maximum possible award based on these criteria.
A Federal Grad PLUS Loan is a loan for graduate students who need further assistance after the use of Federal Direct Loans. This is a federal loan with a fixed interest rate and is approved based on a student’s credit. Applications are made at http://studentaid.gov/. Students are eligible for an amount up to the Cost of Attendance, less other aid received.
